Olivia Valentine

I am a transplanted native of New York City and a graduate of Fordham Law School. I am an Arbitrator and Mediator. I have been an adjunct Professor of Law at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and California State University Dominquez Hills. Aviation Law. My expertise was honed by working in a corporation, in the Los Angeles City Attorney’s office and, for more than 18 years, until 2007, as a General Attorney with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
As a General Attorney for the FAA, most of my caseload was in Aviation Law. In that capacity, I prosecuted hundreds of cases, in which the respondent was charged with violation of the Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs). I also specialized in Employment cases, and defended the FAA where employees were suspended or terminated and appealed based on charges that the FAA committed some wrongdoing, such as sexual harassment or discrimination based on age, sex, or gender.
Community involvement and activism have always been important to me. During my career with the FAA, I was a founder of the FAA’s Adopt a School Program in which the Agency adopted a local school and enriched the students by taking them to air traffic control towers, to museums and to air shows.
From 2011 to 2022, I was a member of the Hawthorne City Council, taking an active interest in promoting economic development, building an art community, strengthening the veterans community and improving the quality of life for Hawthorne residents. From 2016 to 2022, I led the team that produced Hawthorne Business Expo, in an attempt to showcase Hawthorne businesses and give them the information and tools they need to sustain their viability and help them grow. This event brought in hundreds of people to observe the businesses on display in the exhibition hall. We also had informative and inspiring keynote speakers and breakout sessions, which provided information on how businesses can plan for success, build dynamic websites that work, obtain contracting opportunities with Los Angeles World Airports, and create their presence on social media.
In 2022, after I left the Hawthorne City Council, I co-founded the Hawthorne Lawndale Gardena Republican Assembly, after observing that there was a serious lack of Conservative representation in Los Angeles County, and in the 61st AD, in particular. My team and I have been working tirelessly to grow Republican presence and activism by inviting inspirational speakers to our meetings, and through several initiatives, including Precinct Activation, and Voter Registration. In this campaign season, we have been actively assisting local candidates in their quest to turn Los Angeles County from blue, to at least purple, if not red. The Hawthorne Lawndale Gardena Republican Assembly meets every second Saturday of the month.
